Baltimore Start-Up Wants to Connect Food Vendors to Big Buyers

“Cureate Connect is launching its online platform on Jan. 23. At launch, the platform will have approximately 250 local vendors with over 500 products in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. metro areas already using the site.

CEO Kim Bryden started Cureate in 2014 to help food and beverage businesses scale and grow locally. She spent 10 years in the industry before founding her company and recognized several challenges small businesses face in trying to grow locally. One of the big issues was access.

As with any industry, finding business opportunities can often be about connections and luck, she said. And it can be hard for a new entrepreneur to gain traction in the industry with their small business.

"I wanted to create a process to systematize and democratize opportunity in this space so that it's more about product quality and grit, not necessarily who you know," she said.”
