Why we should buy into Philadelphia's latest 'buy local' initiative

“Pennsylvania is home to nearly one million small businesses accounting for 98.2 percent of the state’s businesses and 46.9 percent of its employees. Yet, like elsewhere in the country, a broken supply system across industries is preventing small businesses – and thus local economies – from reaching their potential.

Last week’s launch of Philadelphia Anchors for Growth & Equity (PAGE), an initiative to increase local purchasing by large institutions, marks a critical step in replacing this system.
